UPAR (Universal Protocol for Accommodations in Reading)
The UPAR is a quick assessment that helps identify if your student may benefit from audio support.
The assessment finds your students comprehension level while reading on their own and then finds their comprehension level once audio support is given.
How to give the UPAR assessment:
- Assistive Technology Specialist gives Literary Specialists access to the Admin Dashboard
- Instructor enters student emails (Lit, SpEd, classroom teacher)
- Student signs using the link emailed to them
- Assessment should be administered in a controlled environment
What comes next?
With the information that your student succeeds with audio support there are a few options to assist.
- Text to Speech (iPad or Chromebook)
- Bookshare
- Read&Write
